October 2, 2009, Fall Workshop at Heidelberg University, Tiffin
The annual fall luncheon for 2009 was held on October 2 at Heidelberg University. Jean Underfer-Babalis delivered a very informational presentation titled, “Yikes! You Mean I Have to Make an Ethical Decision Now?” Ms. Underfer-Babalis provided the audience with tools and resources to help reduce anxiety and confusion about making ethical decisions as professional counselors. Specific information was shared regarding use of an ethical decision making model, as well as application of the Feminist and Multicultural Decision Making Model. The thorough presentation included a review of the topic of ethical decision making in the ACA Code of Ethics, as well as in recent research and literature. Attendees also learned about feminist identity and its implications on making ethical decisions. Lastly, Jean provided invaluable information on managing ethical decision when working with clients who present suicidal ideation. As always, Jean Underfer-Babalis shared her wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of counseling while spreading her contagious enthusiasm and passion for the field…. something we all appreciate catching when around Jean!
February 12, 2010, Winter Workshop at Bowling Green State University. The program tentatively will include a presentation by Jim Rough, Executive Director of the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, and an ethics presentation by Nick Piazza, PhD, PCC-S, and Carrie VanMeter, MA, of the University of Toledo.
